In today’s digital world, we have constant access to a sea of information with just the touch of a finger going to the Google search bar. Blogs, websites, scientific articles you name it. All the information you could possibly want is out there somewhere, so what more would you need to fulfill your heart’s desires? Well, sometimes the information covered in a short article doesn’t cover everything you were looking for, and that’s when reading a book is an excellent alternative.
When it comes to your business’ finances, a short article might give you some insights but most often just leaves you with a lot more questions than answers. As your finances are a serious matter, you are better off looking for great books that cover all you need to know. We’ve listed 5 inspiring finance books that will help you gain valuable knowledge about how to handle your finances.
1. Entrepreneurial Finance by Steven Rogers
This book is an excellent read for any entrepreneur as it covers most of the important concepts of finance and financial strategy in a way that’s easy to understand. So there’s really no need to think that it’s another boring and hard to read finance book. It lays out useful and practical information for keeping control of your firm’s finances and avoiding financial barriers that may block your dreams.
2. Small Business Finance for the Busy Entrepreneur by Sylvia Inks
The tagline of this book is ‘Blueprint for building a solid, profitable business’ and we really like the architectural analogy here. Essentially she gives you the blueprint for building your business, much the same as you would also have a blueprint if you were to build your own house for example. There’s not a thing in the book that’s too minor to be addressed. This book is therefore mostly a practical guide which gives you instructions. You can skim through topics and jump to the thing you want to get tips on.
3. Accounting and Finance for Your Small Business by Steven Bragg and Edwin Burton
A sort of financial bible for your business that contains over 300 pages of information on budgeting, accounting, cash flow, financing, and much more. This is a great book to start understanding the financial side of your business better, which things to look out for, and how you will be up to date on your business. This book is a financial bible, however, that also means it’s not a novel you can easily read through. It’s a great book to understand your finances, but can sometimes be a bit drier. Therefore you have to really sink your teeth into it at some points – which makes it a bit more difficult to read than the previous 2 books.
4. Financial Intelligence by Karen Berman & Joe Knight
An easy to read book which requires no prior finance knowledge. It basically teaches the basics of finance to anyone looking to know more about it. Even if you don’t have a clue what a balance sheet is or how to read it, we promise you will know this stuff when you’ve finished the book. It’s particularly easy to read with great concepts and a lot of comprehensive and real-life examples.
5. Accounting for the Numberphobic by Dawn Fotopulos
You probably make excuses why you absolutely hate finance and don’t want to get into it. We absolutely get it. But picking up this book might make you hate it just a little bit less. Accounting for the Numberphobic is written very funny and it’s insanely easy to understand. Essentially it talks about your company’s financial dashboard and the different elements of it and what they mean.
